Choosing the right spec tool for me…

To prepare for the future hand-offs as designers to the devs, there are plenty of options of choosing a spec tool. For the time being, my choice seems to be the obvious as a student which are Figma and Zeplin.

Both Figma and Zeplin offer abilities to send crucial information to the developers. In the past, designers required redlining. Redlining is a document that contains margins, exact spacing, type, and etc. With tools and plugins in Figma and Zeplin, those precious hours can be used to design, research, and plan on the actual product.

One of the main reasons for using Zeplin is the easy of use. As a growing UX designer, the goal is to keep things easy as possible so that I may use the time to continue to develop more skills. Additionally, I love the export ability from Figma to Zeplin. I can develop a styleguide containing color palette, text style catalog, spacing and layout, and components.

Comment for your spec tool of choice and why! Would love to talk to anyone about it!
